close quilt

“Yipes! Stripes! Use only stripes today as your inspiration. For a real challenge, work on a striped background.”

I love stripes, and have many shirts and other items of clothing, kitchenware and stuff with striped motifs.

Over 30 years ago I made a cotton quilt with leftover pieces of striped shirt fabric. The pattern consists of simple blocks laid out as short sleeved shirts, with quilting around the edges, and in the middle in tie or bow tie formations. I thought it would be fun to “populate” those tiny striped shirts.

The silver eel is part of an additional motif of silver pins, collected over the years but not often worn.
