With going back to working just on the 3×5, I wanted to play with the simple patterns. The birthday candles had stripes, and as the candle dripped, pink wax dots appeared. The watercolors filled in the white areas and line by line, the color play emerged. This was simple but very rewarding to do something that formed more or less on its own. A fun surprising note were the delineations in the wax dots themselves as they “crossed the line” from pink to white.
