I thought of seeing “tastes.” The alchemy of spices and how their colors are so vivid and then blend or disappear, leaving their footprint in the mouth.

When Teo was in Istanbul three a summers ago, he talked about the colors of the spices vendors displays in the old bazaar. This seemed like a good starting point.

How to wrap the ephemeral into tea? I unearthed a tea set by Pam Murakami, some promising spices from the kitchen, and went to work.
